He Māpuna te Tamaiti learning modules 

Seven self-paced, online modules take you through the key topics outlined in He Māpuna te Tamaiti to support the development of children's social and emotional competence. The modules are designed to be used together with the He Māpuna Te Tamaiti workbook.

The Education Learning Management System has seven, self-paced, online modules which take you through the key topics outlined in He Māpuna Te Tamaiti: 

  • Kupu whakataki | Introduction  
  • Te taiao manaaki | Creating a supportive environment 
  • Te whakapakari whatumanawa | Promoting emotional competence 
  • Ngā pūkenga whakaratarata | Promoting social competence 
  • Te hāpai ako me te whaiwāhitanga| Supporting learning, and engagement 
  • Ngā tūmomo whanonga | Understanding behaviour  
  • Te whakaataata, te uiui, me te whakaoti rapanga | Reflection, inquiry, and problem solving 

These online modules are designed to be used in unison with the He Māpuna te Tamaiti  workbook, to further support you in supporting the development of children's social and emotional competence. 

Before you start the modules

The modules are on the Education Learning Management System.

  • While you can access the modules as a guest, to get the best experience from the modules you will need an Education Sector Logon (ESL). An ESL enables you to complete the modules at your own pace, save progress, and have a record of learning for professional learning and development.
  • You can find further information about How to get an Education Sector Logon at the Education Applications and Online systems website.
  • You can download an ECE user request form to complete: Education On-line services access for Early Childhood (.pdf).
  • Once logged in (or as a guest) you will need to select the Te Whāriki tile in the Education Learning Management System.
